Toshiyuki Tani / HOKORE / Bamboo pendant Light Shade

Toshiyuki Tani / HOKORE / Bamboo pendant Light Shade

Beautiful Lighting with warmth of Japanese bamboo and sophisticated technique

This piece is created using the traditional Suruga Takesensuji bamboo craft of the Suruga region in Shizuoka. Thin, round bamboo strips are delicately shaved, then gracefully bent and fitted into bamboo rings.
Designer Tani conceived this HOKORE at the same time as his work SEN, which shares the same Suruga Takesensuji technique. He draws inspiration from the power of flowers—especially the strength within a bud before it blooms. Tani believes this quiet force mirrors the enduring process and refined skills required in traditional crafts, whose artistry deserves worldwide recognition.
Infused with these feelings and the spirit of continuous challenge, HOKORE was brought to life as a work to be proud of. The amount of bamboo strips used is about three times that of SEN, resulting in an intricate and luminous design.

When used in a well-ventilated, dry room, it will rotate creating a unique aura (Wabi-Sabi) with the colors of bamboo.
