SASAGE KOGYO / Wire Trivet

SASAGE KOGYO / Wire Trivet

A stainless-steel trivet with a beautifully flat profile

This stainless-steel trivet combines a simple, modern form with the precision of Japanese craftsmanship. It was created through a collaboration between Sasage Kogyo, a long-established metalworking manufacturer based in Tsubame, Niigata—one of Japan’s leading metalworking regions—and Singapore-based designer Gabriel Tan.

Its most distinctive feature is the remarkably flat finish at each joint. Wire products are commonly assembled using spot welding, a highly efficient process in which intersecting wires are electrically welded together. For this trivet, however, each joint is carefully finished using TIG welding to achieve the designer’s vision of a cleaner, flatter construction.

Because the entire structure is smoothly joined, dirt is less likely to collect around the connections, making the trivet easy to clean and maintain. The result is a functional everyday object that combines visual simplicity with practical ease of use.

Bringing together Singaporean design and Japan’s advanced manufacturing expertise, this trivet embodies the appeal of craftsmanship that crosses borders.

Available in two shapes: Round Trivet and Square Trivet.

SASAGE KOGYO

Since our founding, our craftsmanship has been rooted in traditional techniques refined over generations. While preserving this heritage, we continue to explore new methods suited to the times. The techniques we develop today will be passed on to future generations, eventually becoming traditions themselves.

With this in mind, we create products that will become “the standard 50 years from now.”
