Persimmon Chair / Triennale Model

Based on the chair designed by Junzo Sakakura, the Persimmon Chair was first released at Milano Triennale, where Sakakura Associates designed the space, and Choh, as a staff member of the associates took charge of the furniture design. With the molded plywood flame, it shows beautiful organic line. The idea of the back plate's shape comes from the curve of persimmon fruit. The chair was redesigned by Choh in 2006.

    Daisaku Choh [1921-2014]

    Born in Manchuria. After the graduation from Tokyo University of the Arts, he joined Sakakura Associates and did a good performance in an architectural design and a furniture design. In 1955, he worked with Katsuo Matsumura and Tadaomi Mizunoe on furniture design for International House of Japan. In 1972, he established Choh Daisaku Architectural Design Office. Besides architectural design, he was very active in redesigning furniture he made himself before. One of the greatest designers with enormous influence in a Japanese field of design.
