Enamel Pendant Lamp Inspired by Japanese Landscapes
This enamel lamp is crafted using the traditional herashibori metal-spinning technique, where a rotating metal sheet is carefully shaped by hand with a rod called a hera.
The shade’s elegant silhouette, with its softly curling edge, was born from magnifying the rolled rim often seen in enamelware, originally used for reinforcement and to prevent warping. Its design motif draws inspiration from the sweeping curves of shrine and temple roofs that have shaped Japanese landscapes for centuries.
Working closely with skilled enamel artisans, the ideal balance of thickness and curvature was achieved without the need for rolled reinforcement, resulting in a refined “bare material” expression.
The lamp comes with a white cord for the white shade, and a black cord for the charcoal gray shade.
