Max Bill / Poster "the variation 1 from fifteen variations on a single theme"

Mathematical Interpretation Transformed into Vibrant Art

This poster reproduces one work from Max Bill’s concrete art series “15 Variations on a Single Theme,” created from a single original drawing based on the concepts of “continuity,” “expansion,” and “development.” Focusing on mathematically structured interpretations, the series aims for logical visual expression.

n this piece, the spiral shape of the original drawing is connected with points and reconstructed using only straight lines to form polygons, each vividly rendered in six colors : yellow, red, green, blue, orange, and purple. The "Variation 12" from the same series is also available as a poster, making it ideal to display both works side by side.

Selectable Frame Set

These frames are designed to fit 50cm square posters, such as the Max Bill Poster Variations series.

The Hyper Frame has extra depth, making it suitable for mat framing — ideal not only for posters but also for prints and original artworks.

Max Bill [1908-1994]

Born in Winterthur, Switzerland. For three years beginning in 1924, Bill studied silversmith in Zurich, after which he studied under Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee at Bauhaus. Bill wore many hats, including that of painter, sculptor, graphic artist, architect, and industrial designer. Later, determined to pass on the spirit of Bauhaus, he devoted himself to the founding the Ulm School of Design, where he would serve as the school’s first chancellor. Consistently pursuing the creative process founded in “regularity” and “logic,” today his theories have a profound influence on the worlds of design and art.
