Toshiyuki Tani / FUJI / Japanese Paper Lantern Shade
Toshiyuki Tani / FUJI / Japanese Paper Lantern Shade
Beautiful Lighting Showcasing the Warmth of Japanese Washi and Exquisite Craftsmanship
This pendant lamp, designed by lighting artist Toshiyuki Tani, features a handcrafted Japanese washi shade enhanced with a water- and stain-resistant finish. Instead of bamboo or wire, eco-friendly PET resin ribs wrapped in thin washi create a refined texture while minimizing shadows. Using precise heat treatment rather than wire, artisans shape the traditionally round lantern into a perfectly balanced octagon.
The “FUJI” features a majestic form that flares outward like the iconic silhouette of Mount Fuji.
A natural wood connector links the washi shade to the cord, adding a warm accent that enhances and refines the soft texture of the paper.
*For international orders, this item includes the shade only. The cord and light bulb are not included.
