Robin Day / Form Group 1 seat sofa with table (FG2-03)
Robin Day's masterpiece from the British mid-century period
Originally created in 1960 by celebrated British designer Robin Day, the modular “Forum Group” sofa has been faithfully reissued under the supervision of the Robin & Lucienne Day Foundation.
Its steel frame, cushions, and optional table modules can be flexibly combined to create a variety of configurations, allowing you to tailor the layout to your lifestyle. A winner of the 1961 Design Centre Award, this piece stands as one of Robin Day’s most renowned mid-century masterpieces.
An Innovative Design Expressing Purpose and Structure
Breaking away from traditional sofa-making methods that relied on wood frames and springs, this design employs durable rubber webbing tape to support the seat cushions. Uniquely, the webbing—normally hidden inside a sofa’s structure—was brought to the surface and elevated into a defining design element. At the time of its release, this innovative approach was hailed as one of the most progressive and forward-thinking designs of its era.
With its distinctive yet refined aesthetic, this sofa creates a modern and sophisticated atmosphere in any living space.
A High-Quality Sofa Combining Style and Functionality
This is a single-seater sofa with an integrated side table on the right. The table provides space to display your favorite décor or use it as a coffee table, combining elegant design with practical functionality. Ideal for enjoying a cozy moment on the sofa or enhancing your living space in various settings.
The seat measures 71 cm in width and 53 cm in depth, offering a spacious area for comfortable lounging. Its balanced firmness and resilient cushioning provide solid support for your body, reducing strain on your legs and back. The sofa prevents excessive sinking, allowing you to stand up smoothly and effortlessly.
The upholstery is made from premium, Japanese-made fabrics known for exceptional abrasion resistance, often used in contract and public furniture. Customers can choose between the simple, versatile NC series or the classic TRAD series featuring a timeless herringbone pattern.

Robin Day [1915-2010]
Born in Buckinghamshire, England. Robin Day graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1939. In 1948 he won first Prize for a jointly designed low-cost storage unit in the International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design held by MoMA. Subsequently undertaking numerous furniture designs, in 1963 he designed the world’s first Polypropylene Chair, using injection-moulding technology to enable mass-production. His Poly chair became an international smash hit, with over 14 million sold since production began.
