This dining chair is a modernized interpretation of a Ming Dynasty chair by Isamu Kenmochi, a pioneer of Japanese industrial design. It requires an advanced level of bentwood craftsmanship, to the extent that it is said three out of every ten chairs fail during production. In 1964, it was awarded the Good Design Award as an “easy chair.”
