The Luxury of Mastering Simplicity
This is a desktop tray from the Prima Rio series by product designer Michio Akita. This product is machined from a stainless steel ingot (chunk). This tray for a single writing instrument was born out of a desire to have it used in hotels and restaurants where it is in contact with customers. It is a pen tray, so we want people to use it with their writing instruments on it, but it is so beautiful that you may even feel like just putting it there without putting anything on it. It can also be used as a paperweight due to its solid weight.

• Michio Akita

  Born in Osaka, Japan in 1953. He majored in Design & Industrial Arts at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine arts and Music, and graduated in 1977. After working at Kenwood Corporation and Sony Corporation, he works as a freelance product designer from 1988. His work rage is wide from household appliances to the public equipment.
